The Bigelow Ridge Loop is one of Maine's premier mountain adventures, traversing the rugged spine of the Bigelow Range within Bigelow Preserve. This demanding route combines the Fire Warden's Trail, Horns Pond Trail, and portions of the Appalachian Trail to visit several iconic summits including West Peak, Avery Peak, and The Horns.
Expect challenging climbs, rugged ridgelines, alpine scenery, and panoramic views over Flagstaff Lake.
This is a strenuous full-day hike intended for experienced hikers with excellent fitness. Turn back if weather deteriorates above treeline.
